Educational Training for Residents in Geriatric Psychiatry

Abstract

|
ABSTRACT Recently, the effective and systematic education for residents in geriatric psychaitry has been receiving needed attention and interests. However, in Korea, the position of the education in geriatric psychaitry is still in first step. So, the author review the bylaws for advanced training in old age psychiatry from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), and a curriculum for education in geriatric psychiatry presented by the several universitics in USA. Also the author let. the psychiatrists in Korea know the present situation with the research in the actual condition of the residents in training hospitals performed by the Korea Neuropsychiatric Association in 2000. Finally review the specific recommendations for addressing the increased needs.
